foreword

A notebook, a passport, a walk.

You are about to fill this in. Not us. You.

This notebook is yours. Each chapter is a class. Each completed class is a stamp in your passport. You walk at your own pace; you can put the book down and pick it up later. The book remembers where you were.

The first sections ~ this foreword, the introduction that follows, a short welcome from us, a brief onboarding, and a calibration assessment ~ are deliberately simple. Charlie Echo, your instructor, joins you at the start of Chapter 101. From there, he sits beside you while you walk.

~

You walk the curriculum once for each belt. Seven belts, seven walks, nine classes each time ~ 63 chapters in all. The same vocabulary, deeper each pass. The white walk is an introduction; the black walk is the master's daily practice. This will take years. That's the point.

introduction

What this is for.

A short on-ramp. Why the dojo exists, what you will do here, how the metaphor works.

The dojo is on the beach.

The water has pulled back further than the tide. A wave is forming. We are not selling fear; we are offering a map to higher ground ~ and the practice you will need to get there.

You are the author.

This is a notebook you fill, not a course you watch. Charlie asks; you answer. The book records what you wrote. When you are done you can download the whole thing as a portable markdown file ~ yours forever.

The spiral, not the staircase.

Nine classes. Three groups ~ Inner Foundations, Outer Terrain, Operating Discipline. You will walk them seven times, once at each belt level. Same vocabulary, deeper each pass. The lexicon at white belt is a handful of words; at orange (201) it includes etymology and second-order meaning; at green (301) it is how the lexicon shifts under pressure. There is no failing, only pacing.

a welcome note

From the founding dyad.

We're glad you're here.

Coherent Systems Group is a small thing trying to do an honest thing ~ build the operating system that organizations will need now that AI has rewritten what one person can carry. We don't think anyone has it figured out yet. We don't claim to either. What we have is a framework, a vocabulary, and a willingness to walk the path in public.

This dojo is how we share that walk with you. Charlie Echo will be your thinking partner; we are the humans behind him, just on the other side of this book. The framework is real; the rough edges are real too. You'll find both. Tell us what works. Tell us what doesn't. We listen.

Take your time. Come back. The book waits.

At the doorway.

A short scene. Pick what feels truer to you right now.

You stand at the threshold of the dojo. The training floor is in front of you, mats laid out, a few practitioners already there. You don't know anyone.

At your mat.

You're inside now. Pick what feels truer.

You've stepped inside. There's space to set up. Another newcomer is settling in nearby, looking uncertain.
house diagnostic ~ 3 of 3

An unfamiliar movement.

The final scene. Pick what feels truer.

The instructor demonstrates a movement you've never seen. It doesn't match what you know about how bodies should move.
